CERGE-EI
In a ceremony that took place on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, we presented a symbolic cheque for CZK 148,000 to the CERGE-EI education institute to support post-graduate education in 2009. RSJ Board of Directors member Karel Janeček presented the cheque to CERGE-EI Chairman and Founder Professor Jan Švejnar.
Deputy Director for Educational Affairs Professor Jan Hanousek and the student winners of the in-house competition for financial assistance also attended the ceremony. The financial gift will go to merit scholarships for a total of four 2nd-year post-graduate students and support for their research projects. The student winners were chosen by a CERGE-EI committee of experts from among 10 projects submitted to the internal competition in total.

RSJ places great emphasis on quality education and long-term support for various university projects. “I believe that quality education is not only key to the economic prosperity of society, but is also necessary for the future existence of civilisation,” says Karel Janeček.
RSJ will support several university research projects in 2009. Aside from CERGE-EI, a separate grant project is being prepared for the Charles University Faculty of Mathematics and Physics.
RSJ is planning to devote more than CZK 700 thousand to support university education in 2009.
